Résumé
A large number of works by the Italian musician Giovanni Battista Cirri (1724-1808) from Forlì were printed during his lifetime. The busy cello virtuoso composed of course particularly for 'his' instrument, both concertos and sonatas, but also a number of chamber music pieces in other instrumentations, apart from occasional works for orchestra or for sacred occasions. The Sonata in G major published here is perfectly suitable for beginner's lessons, being a catchy, nice-sounding and rewarding piece for young cellists which is fun to play (and to listen to).
