Edward Hopper (1882–1967) is the greatest painter of modern American life. Includes a detailed discussion of a wide range of Hopper’s paintings, watercolours and etchings, such as House by the Railroad (1925) and Nighthawks (1942). Examines the influences that led Hopper to create some of the most widely recognized paintings of the twentieth century.
The author and editors of Silent Theater were the winners of the prestigious Umhoefer Prize for Achievement in the Arts and Humanities in 2009.
