Running qmail provides the information and techniques you'll need to install and configure qmail on Unix. We use FreeBSD to demonstrate qmail, but the principles apply equally to any Unix environment. In fact, Running qmail also shows you how to implement a qmail server for any of the popular Linux distributions as well. Running qmail also discusses PPP support and dial-in customers. Regardless of your experience with Unix and electronic mail, you will find all of the material practical and relevant. Running qmail begins with an educational slant, defining the needs and functions of all email servers. After you learn to establish your own email server, the book will provide an excellent reference for your ongoing administrative tasks. Some of the important topics covered are: • qmail configuration and operational parameter file formats and content • qmail mailbox file formats • Migrating from sendmail to qmail • Detailed coverage of the qmail helper programs Written by developers for developers, Running qmail provides a solutions-oriented approach to the demanding world of email processing and administration. The CD-ROM contains FreeBSD 4.0 Install Disc-stable branch, source code for qmail 1.03, dot-forward 0.71, fastforward 0.51, and qmailanalog 0.70.
