The essentiâl introduction to the wonders of Celtic art, this accessible book - written by one of the world's leading experts - presents a dazzling sequence of more than 250 masterpieces ranging from the seventh century BC to the eighth century AD. The great variety and range of Celtic artistic production is included - from stone sculptures, terracotta vases and iron swords to amber necklaces, golden torques, bronze fibulas and illuminated manuscripts.
Specially commissioned photography and lavish reproductions celebrate the beauty and intricacy of Celtic art, from Ireland to France, Italy to Hungary, the Czech Republic to Germany. The result is an authoritative survey of one of the most magnificent periods of ancient artistic culture.
