TINA DEININGER, born in 1953 in Hanover, and GERHARD JAUGSTETTER, born in 1956 in Geiselwvind, live in Burgwindheim in the Steigerwald region and both worked for some years as photographers in the advertising business, before establishing their own photographie studio in 1986. Since 1992, they have been exhibiting regularly in Germany and abroad. Their photographie travels frequently take them to Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries, such as Brazil for their contribution to a report about street children, Portugal for the pictures in a series of books entitled "Pessoas Lissabon" and Argentina for "Tango - Passion in Buenos Aires". They have been photographing the rich cultural heritage of Andalucia for some years now. The results include the photo calendars "Tapas ! Bar Culture in Spain" and the coffee-table book "Flamenco, the Rhythm of Andalucia.
When it tomes to flamenco they are attracted by the spirited expression of strong emotions, the antiquated beauty of the singing style and the wild rhythm of the dance. The Andalucians' joie de vivre is evident in their "fiestas" - the subject of the next project for the hispanophile photographers. This book already includes some of their pictures for that project.
