Biographie de Roger Ballen
ROGER BALLEN is an American-born photographer who has worked and lived in South Africa since the 1970s. His previous books include Platteland (1994), Outland (2001), Shadow Chamber (2005), Boarding House (2009), Asylum of the Birds (2014), The Theatre of Apparitions (2016) and The World According to Roger Ballen (2019). Ballen, whose photographs are collected by some of the most prestigious institutions in the world, has won numerous awards in both photography and film-making.
ROBERT J. C. YOUNG, FBA is Julius Silver Professor of English and Comparative Literature at New York University. With research interests ranging from postcolonial theory to psychoanalysis and photography, he has been writing about Roger Ballen's work since 2012. His most recent books include Empire, Colony, Postcolony (2015) and, with Jean Khalfa, Frantz Fanon : Alienation and Freedom (2018).
