The Atlas of the Morphology of the Human Cerebral Cortex on the Average MNI Brain identifies the sulci, gyri, lobules and likely location of cytoarchitectonic areas on the asymmetrical average MNI brain on the basis of the latest research. It discusses cytoarchitectonic areas and their likely relation to morphological landmarks. Presenting this information on the asymmetrical MNI template makes the atlas a useful working tool for neuroimaging researchers who are attempting to identify the sulci, gyri, lobules, and likely cytoarchitectonic areas within which structural and functional changes occurred.
An introductory chapter discusses historical background followed by the first main section of the book, which provides commentary and high-quality photomicrographs of the cytoarchitectonic areas of the cerebral cortex and their likely relation to morphological landmarks, such as particular lobules, sulci, parts of gyri. The final segment includes a series of coronal sections every 4 mm through the latest version of the asymmetrical average MRI brain on which the sulci, gyri, lobules, and particular morphological features and cytoarchitectonic areas are presented.
Key Features : Identifies the sulci, gyri, and lobules on the left and the right cerebral hemispheres of the asymmetrical average MNI MRI brain allowing the user to identify the location of a particular structural or functional change. Presents commentary regarding the cytoarchitectonic areas of the human cerebral cortex and their likely location on the asymmetrical average MNI brain (rather than a single brain), so individual peculiarities of the surface morphology of any given brain are regularized.
Features full-page, high quality photomicrographs of cytoarchitectonic areas of the cerebral cortex. Offers commentary on the relation of saki and gyri to architectonic areas, which will be useful to those looking to navigate through a complex literature.
