Gardening is hard work. So, too, is healing the connections between us but it can be done when the participants are willing. Just like all of the bugs, diseases, and critters that attack a garden, so do our attitudes attack our sense of society and common good. Being diligent in the garden prevents plant problems; being diligent in our thinking prevents alienation problems. If you have taken nothing else from reading this book, please allow yourself to begin a new conversation with someone and establish (or reestablish) a human connection that is based on what you have in common, not what divides you. That is the basis of this book, and it is my prayer for the readers of these words. Order of chapters and sections for Faithful Planting, Approachable conversations about gardening and faith.
