Eden Halifax Magnuss lost her husband in a military helicopter crash while he was deployed overseas. Just before the seventh anniversary of her husband's death, she is chosen for a seemingly easy assignment to 'babysit' a teen prodigy while he receives training with a mysterious mentor known only as "the Alchemist, " a solitary figure who is only spoken of in rumors at work.
