Sasha I needed a change. And for me, that meant going back to where it all began: Las Vegas. River, my sister, would always be my home base. She was the stable one. I was the flighty one. She had a career as a tattoo artist. I had.my looks and an uncanny ability to land on my feet. So, I surprised her, but she wasn't exactly shocked. I mean.this was probably expected. With big changes, I liked to mark the occasion.
I needed a piercing or a tattoo. I also needed a place to stay. I planned to swear off guys for a while and stop being somebody's problem. After all, I'd experienced plenty of recent upheavals, since I left my husband, who never consummated our marriage, and his lawyer, who'd completely picked up his slack in the sack, so I could figure out my next move. I needed an adventure. And that's where Dallas came in.
He was at the shop getting a cover-up tattoo. One thing led to another, and I never made it to River's house, but I sure did have an adventure. Dallas was supposed to be my sorbet, my palate cleanse. He was a meal when I thought I wanted a snack. He was.nothing I wanted and everything I feared. I could jump into his bed and jump out of a plane, but there was no way I could jump into a relationship.
Not here. Not now. Maybe later, when I finished figuring out where I truly belonged. Dallas I had excellent taste in food and wine. The same could not be said of women. The minute I found one I thought I could see a future with, I did something crazy. Last time, it involved ink. Our relationship barely lasted long enough for the tattoo to completely heal. Next thing I knew, my love interest left me.
Looking for a change, and a cover-up, I ended up in Las Vegas for a week of debauchery. Somehow, I still believed in happily ever after, and fate. I could argue that's how I happened to wander into the tattoo shop, and how I met Sasha. She was there for fresh ink. I needed to hide the ex's name, and since I no longer trusted my own judgment, I asked Sasha to choose for me. A fox. I wasn't going to analyze that too much.
In fact, my plan for this vacation involved lots of activity. I didn't want time to think. I wanted time away and loads of play. Maybe that's why I invited Sasha to join me. We seemed to have a lot in common, like a passion for ink, a need for change, and the healthy belief that the best way to get over a bad relationship was to get under someone else. With Sasha, I didn't mind taking the bottom in the bedroom and letting her lead in public.
I didn't mind that her idea of adventure meant completing heart-pounding acts. What I did mind was that we had agreed this would be a palate cleanser and that this was over in a week. Because I wanted Sasha to be my problem-permanently.
