If you are like me, you spent a majority of your life largely unaware of what OCPD was. When you suddenly stumbled upon it, everything started to make sense. Many people confuse OCPD with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). People can have both; however, OCPD is a pervasive condition that affects the person's entire life and all interactions. A person with OCPD may justify their rigidity and inflexibility using the morals and values their family instilled in them. They don't notice that their OCPD is causing a problem with their interactions with others.
