So, what do you do when someone is not who you think they are?Is there anything you can do?As of 2023, Alzheimer's disease affects 1 in 9 people, according to the Alzheimer's Association of America-and Black Americans and Hispanics are among the highest demographics that suffer from the disease. I am no expert on the disease, but I have witnessed it among three of my grandparents, who are of so-called African and Latin ancestry.
It's a taboo topic among many, yet several individuals will confront people with this brain disease. So what happens when touch becomes more powerful than words, and sensation is a constant reminder of confusion?This book will take you on a gentle dive into the mind of a character struggling with Alzheimer's. And through her eyes, you will struggle to re-discover and accept what is true. I hope you enjoy this short story inspired by my mother's hands, my late grandmother's spunk, and my father's care. The characters in this short story are fictional.
