In 1954 'Cutty Sark', the worlds sole surviving Clipper Ship was ignominiously towed up the river Thames, sealed into a dry-dock at Greenwich,  to become a museum. Over the years several attempts were made to refloat her. Proposals that she become a youth training vessel and a fitting ambassador for Britain, among the international fleet of 'Tall ships' were all rejected. In 1972 Captain Monty Trevallion and several of his shipmates felt the old ship needed a break.
Opting for forgiveness over permission, they used science, guile, deception, and a fair bit of Monty's  fortune to refloat, refit and victual the ship for a circumnavigation. And so, with a crew of young men and women, they embarked on their voyage, blissfully unaware of the impending confrontations with the arrogance, bigotry, and monumental incompetence,  that drove the captain of one of the warships sent to apprehend them.
