Behind The Lies is a composite of three separate crime thrillers written by former Police Chief Mark R. Beckner. The author uses his experience and knowledge of crime to create realistic, yet thrilling crime stories. In the first story, the police must deal with a serial killer who has reappeared after a two-year absence to terrorize some of Chicago's most crime-ridden neighborhoods. Frustrating the police is the fact that the killer leaves a calling card at each murder scene, and yet they cannot determine who he is.
The only evidence they have is the item he leaves with each victim. The police are stumped. Is he the mysterious man in dark clothing, the person known as Snowman, or someone else? The police are in a race against time to find him before he strikes again. In the second story, Wendy Spire is found murdered behind her high school in a small northern Michigan community. Who would want to kill a nice girl like Wendy? At the scene, one of Wendy's shoes is missing, and police find an engraved ring nearby.
Was Wendy killed somewhere else? Is the ring significant to her murder? Her best friend tells the police Wendy had a secret admirer who she was supposed to meet the night before. Could this unknown secret admirer be the killer? The small town's only two detectives, Walker and Baker, must find the answers. The final story takes place in beautiful Castle Rock, Colorado. Justin King and Naomi Cooper have been meeting for the last six months for rendezvous of fun and sex.
Naomi dreams of a future life with Justin, and he wants to make her dreams come true. There is only one problem. Naomi is married to Justin's friend and business partner, Ryan Cooper. However, Justin has a plan. They need to kill Ryan so that Naomi will inherit her money and Ryan's half of the business. She will then be free to marry Justin. Will the plan work? Naomi is not sure she can go along with the plan, but someone is going to die.
Will Justin and Naomi get away with murder and live happily ever after? Or, will the police be able to sort it all out?

Biographie de Mark R Beckner
Mark Beckner is known in Colorado from his time with the Boulder Police Department from 1978 to 2014. He rose through the ranks to become Boulder's Police Chief in 1998 and remained in that position until his retirement in 2014. Chief Beckner took the reins of a department in turmoil and suffering from widespread criticism in the wake of the 1996 JonBenet Ramsey murder. Given the propensity of unusual happenings in Boulder, the Department and Chief Beckner often found themselves in the news. However, it wasn't until he took over command of the JonBenet Ramsey investigation in late 1997 that he became known across the country by those interested in the bizarre nature of JonBenet's death.While the case has never been solved, Chief Beckner was able instrumental in bringing order to the investigation and played a role in getting the case to a grand jury. Most of the local media respected Chief Beckner for his honesty and straightforward approach. Mark Beckner still lives in Colorado and uses his law enforcement experience and writing skills to create thrilling, dramatic, and suspenseful murder mysteries. His first book, Behind The Lies, has received highly positive reviews.
It comprises three crime dramas involving murder, mystery, action and suspense. His second book is scheduled to be out in late September, 2021.
