Ambiguity of Beauty: Contemporary Aesthetic Visions Juxtaposed

The exploration and the transformations around the human body havebeen the object of wide-ranging reflections in several disciplines. Particularlysince the 1960s, the art world has considered the body as amaterial to be modelled. In this way the very idea of beauty has beenquestioned, leading to sometimes extreme experiments, which haveradically redefined aesthetic canons. Since the 1990s, the fashionworld has also fully entered this experimental drive, in particularthanks to the contribution of Alexander McQueen and Hussein Chalayan.
Cosmetic surgery and the creation of clothing are two parallelpaths that proceed in the same direction: that of a new body that createsa model of beauty capable of going beyond the standards.
