This introductory study gives its readers a sense of the historical development of Englishspeaking theatre from its origins in religious rituals and urban entertainments to the multimedia productions of today.

The authors have chosen key authors from the Anglophone literary scene whose works are presented along with a selected bibliography to help further research.
