Biographie de Gordon Parks
Gordon Parks (1912-2006), one of the twentieth century's preeminent photographers, was a humanitarian with a deep commitment to social justice. His unique and commanding photographs for the Farm Security Administration and later for Ebony, Vogue, and LO magazines brought him considerable success and fame. Expanding his practice beyond photography, he was also a respected film director, composer, memoirist, novelist, and poet.
The recipient of numerous awards, Parks left behind an exceptional body of work - a powerful record and interpretation of American life and culture from the early 1940s through the dawn of the twenty-first century, with a focus on race relations, civil rights, poverty, and urban life. The Gordon Parks Foundation permanently preserves the work of Gordon Parks ; makes it available to the public through exhibitions, books, and electronic media ; and supports artistic and educational activities that advance what Gordon described as "the common search for a better life and a better world."
