Ancient humans must have found eclipses unnerving and unpredictable. Periodically, they are not easy to understand because of their complex nature. It is both dramatic and transient when a solar eclipse takes place. Due to diffraction on the moon's surface and its jaggedness, a solar eclipse appears to remove the sun from the sky as the sun disappears. However this simple explanation has fascinated humans for thousands of years.
