?????? ??????? ???????? ????????? ??????? ????????? ???? ??????? ????????? ??????????.

In this study I analyse the international migrations as a main characteristic of the contemporary globalization.
Being connected to the globalization's dynamics " from above" and "from below", like the other Arabic and Mediterranean metropolises, Beirut is getting more internationalized. Globalizations « from above » and « from below » cross and mix with each other in Beirut's spaces depending on different degrees of visibility. The non Arab migrants, like Ethiopian, Philippine or Sri Lankan who work in Beirut as housemaids introduce new otherness and new urban practices in the interstices of the city which contribute to transform the urbanscape, linked to different spatial scales and degrees of visibility, including high visibility and "social invisibility".
The degree of visibility indicates how a person can be legitimate to show herself or to be seen, depending on the place. This analyse of a migration system based on the foreign women house staff raises the question of the place of the Other in the city and the places of the city where she could be visible. Using the disparities between the central and the peripheral districts, and between the weekly days and the weekend, the female migrants contribute to produce new spaces and new practices in the Lebanese capital, even if they are still submitted because of their social and gender status.
In this context every national group seems to create new social networks based on shops and places of worship. This migration was and is still officially organized so as to employ those women as housemaids, who must live only with their employers as invisible people who stay only the time of their contract. Nevertheless the high number of migrants and the overcome of the legal restrictions make them more visible in the urbanscape of Beirut, passing through the differences between the central and peripheral districts.
In the context of segregation and fragmentation that characterizes Beirut, they contribute in the interstices of the legality and of the city to her "re-creation" as a new figure of "citadinity". In consequence, this situation of coexistence highlights the notion of cosmopolitanism.
